Marketing for the Busy Business


Marketing isn’t easy, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. 

I often say that marketing is not easy, but it also doesn’t have to be complicated. I want to share why this is true and how companies can take their business to another level by having a real strategy to follow.

Some business owners think they have a handle on their marketing because they know how to schedule posts on social media. Still others are so utterly overwhelmed by the enormous amount of options available to promote that they throw up their hands and do very little – hoping word of mouth or that sign on the road will be enough.

Both scenarios are completely justified. Marketing is both easy and complicated.

It is easy to see how marketing works after the fact. When we see the end result of a successful marketing campaign and growth in a company, we can understand why the company advertised the way they did. Yet, what many do not see is the planning and research done to come up with the brand message, who to target with the promotions, where to place ads, and so much more. Taking the time to follow the steps of a marketing plan will bring incredible success for the company willing to do the work before throwing up their hands and dancing on TikTok instead.

Real success comes from having an actual marketing strategy, staying consistent with that strategy and clearly understanding your audience. 

Consumers are bombarded by an incredible amount of information on a daily basis. Social media has become so overcrowded and saturated, it takes diligence and creativity to break through the noise. 

And, there are so many marketing channels to choose from. It can be overwhelming to decide how to market or advertise a product or service when there are so many options. 

How do I get noticed in the crowded marketplace?

How do I get more traffic to my store or my website?

Why am I not getting any response from what I posted?

It can also be incredibly frustrating to have to spend time and resources on marketing when days are filled trying to serve the customers and employees we currently have. When business is going well, we forget about continuing to hone our brand identity and grow our client base. On the flip side, we hesitate spending resources on marketing when business slows down. 

The truth is, consistent marketing is critical to success. It is the consistency that creates a lasting impression in the hearts and minds of our ideal customers.

Maintaining a marketing strategy can be as simple as a consistent social media plan with frequent postings or understanding the customer journey from noticing your brand to initial inquiry. Active and consistent marketing tactics amplify your company in the crowded marketplace. Starting with a clear message and a consistent strategy will cut through the noise, get your audience to take notice, and save you valuable time and resources in the long run.
