How I Grew My Business by 400% in Less Than 4 Years

I grew my business by 400% in less than 4 years.

I won’t say it was easy. At times, it was frustrating, agonizing and downright terrifying. But the joys that I have found by building something to call my own have made it worthwhile.

How did I do it? I engaged with my target audience: business owners who are caught up in the day-to-day challenges of running a business and struggling to achieve their full potential around managing a staff, interacting with customers, balancing the books and trying to market themselves on top of that.

To ensure my clients’ success, I developed marketing plans focused on four pillars: providing exceptional products and services, staying up on trends in my industry, having a growth mindset, and of course, choosing the most effective marketing techniques.

Providing Exceptional Products That Fill a Need:

Not enough business owners spend time researching what people actually need. Instead, they spend time on products and services that they may like but are not in demand in the market.

I like to research my clients’ competition to find ways to set them apart, and you can do this too.  Collect feedback from your customers in person, through social media or your email list. Focus on the question, “Why should they care?” to keep your eyes on the prize.

Staying Abreast of Industry Trends and Technology:

Staying up-to-date with industry trends and embracing relevant technologies is crucial for real success. Technology is changing rapidly and there is so much out there that can save time and money and make you even more valuable to your clients. I strive to set aside time to engage with thought leaders and other professionals and read content related to my industry and my clients’ industries.

Embracing a Growth Mindset:

I knew I wanted more than a job; I wanted a thriving business that inspired me. Because my business has grown, I have grown my team in tandem. In collaborating with them, I benefit from their innovative ideas and creativity. I reframe challenges and setbacks as valuable learning experiences and pass the lessons learned on to my clients.

Implementing Effective Marketing Strategies:

No matter how exceptional a product or service is, it won’t take off unless the target audience knows that it exists. I take the time to craft a real marketing strategy, one that is proactive rather than reactive. My clients benefit from a multichannel approach that encompasses digital advertising, content marketing, social media and even in-person networking. Together we reach their customers where they are.

In the end, the numbers don’t lie. Data and analytics measure the success of our campaigns and guide decisions to continuously optimize marketing efforts.

There is no secret sauce or algorithm hack that led to my success; I attribute it all to these pillars. I personally have big goals that are constantly evolving, so I find that the goalposts of success are constantly shifting. But what I can tell you is that I have achieved something pretty remarkable and I feel it is worth sharing with you. My hope is that it will inspire you to take a step toward what success means to you and your business. I am confident that if you embrace my strategies, you will enjoy a flourishing business for years to come.
