As a business owner, it can be an incredible breakthrough to recognize that some tasks are simply below your pay grade. Once you identify these tasks and stop doing them, you can potentially double your profitability.
Starting a business often requires wearing many hats and managing every aspect of your operations, at least initially. This experience is invaluable, allowing you to understand every role and step in when necessary.
However, through my work with hundreds of business owners and marketers each month, I’ve learned an essential lesson: sometimes, we need to get out of our own way.
Every business reaches a point where you must evaluate how valuable your time is. Consider delegating tasks that:
1. You can pay someone less to do: The time you spend on menial tasks could be better spent strategizing your next move, meeting potential clients, or streamlining processes.
2. Are not your skill set: Why spend time learning to run Google ads when you could hire an expert to do it more efficiently?
Once you recognize this, you can devote your time to activities that truly move your business forward.
Personally, I no longer spend weekends grocery shopping. Instead, I have my groceries delivered. With a yearly membership, delivery is free, and I generously tip the driver. This allows me to spend that time on calls or meetings with new clients.
I also have an incredible virtual assistant who handles data entry, scheduling, and creating necessary forms and documents to keep the company running smoothly.
One marketing consulting client of mine used to spend half his day putting labels on products in his small warehouse because he didn’t trust his staff to do it correctly. After taking my advice, he trained his team and focused on streamlining his marketing efforts. As a result, he doubled his revenue.
Reflect on the tasks you do each day and consider if they are the best use of your time. Most successful entrepreneurs recognize this early in their journey. Take a moment to understand your worth and delegate tasks that don’t serve your long-term goals and are below your pay grade.
Imagine the potential. I’m excited for you. Let me know how it goes and what you achieve after recognizing your worth. Good luck!
